Utilizes appropriate learning media and a wide range of instructional technology applications (hardware and software) in learning activities.

Iinservice sessions were provided to teachers for many hardware devices and software application programs. Technology inservice was provided on a variety of topics to interested administrative center staff members on selected Fridays (G.I.F.T.).

Hardware trainings included: CD Writers, Digital Cameras, Laptop Labs, Mimios, Scanners, Video Conferencing, and Video Projectors.

Software trainings included: Beginning Teacher Sessions, Data Warehouse, Excel, FCAT Diagnostic, FCAT Explorer Math, FCAT Explorer Reading, File Management, Groupwise, Inspiration, Internet Searching, Laureate Presentations, Powerpoint, RiverDeep Math, RiverDeep Science, Site Snagger, Turn-It-In (plagiarism software), Excelsior Gradebook, Excelsior Principal Viewer, Rosetta Stone software, Jeopardy, and electronic grading of student projects..

 

Utilizes instructional and other electronic networks to gather and share information.

  • GroupWise and the Internet are tools that are used on a daily basis to gather and share information with other teachers and staff members. An example of this is the use of the GroupWise cabinet. See 02 Communication for an example of using the cabinet.
  • Excelsior materials are also placed in a cabinet and kept up to date for teachers as well as the school Excelsior contacts.
  • The Internet is frequently used for locating on new software and help on its use. The Internet is also used for documentation for CTAS and thus can be shared with others.
  • A survey was created using Zoomerang to survey the interest of the administrative staff for desired technology trainings.
